Basic Info
Name:pheral
Location:Exmouth, United Kingdom
Bio
This is pheral's space for language practice. (if you're looking for my proper every-day journal, it's here: [info]pheral)

The phuzzy kitty is teaching herself three languages, Russian, Irish and Norwegian (nynorsk). This space is reserved completely for her language practice, which will be at least one small post a day in each language. Mostly she will... ah shit it's so hard to get out of third person once you start. Mostly i will be looking to make each post only in it's relevant language, in an effort to make myself practice and look up words and struggle a bit. English may creep in here and there, and commenters are free to use as much english as they please, although if you want to practice with me then obviously using the language is the best way forward.

If you want to watch, want to learn, or are learning, or are fluent and want to help, i would love you to friend. Feel free to use this is as a learning space, rather than a pheral space. Comment til your fingers fall off. Then use your elbows, you slackers.

There will be filters setup on entries, so if you are a russian (for example) learner and want to see only those posts on your flist, just specify and i'll filter you.

on my knowledge levels and books used...

russian: я изучаю русски яазик и моя книга 'Russian Made Simple', она очен хорошо книга. я немного говорю по-русски. i'm learning with my beloved second-hand Russian Made Simple book that i got from a second hand store. I'm up to chapter 11, so have a nice start in the language, but still find it difficult to find words for everyday bloggings.

irish: i tried once to learn with the Teach Yourself Irish book, which simply didn't work for me. I've now got Mícháel Ó Siadhail's Learning Irish which i have literally just started. So greetings and new vocab are the order of the day with this one. And extensive problems with pronounciation, most likely. Also, it teaches Irish from the Cois Fhairrge, in Co. Galway, so many of my words may not be standard.

norwegian: i'm learning nynorsk, but with the idea that i should learn bokmål too, in order to be able to function and work professionally in norway someday. i've got a good start with speech from my friends over there, but terrible spelling and very basic knowledge. greetings, some basic day-to-day speech... i'm using the only book i can find, Teach Yourself Norwegian, and am converting it to nynorsk as i go along. uergh.
